AceShowbiz - Sabrina Carpenter is focusing on her tour right now, but she could soon land an acting gig. The singer/actress has emerged as a fan favorite for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of "Tangled".
Following reports that Disney is currently negotiating with "The Greatest Showman" filmmaker Michael Gracey to direct the film, fans have touted the former Disney Channel star to take on the lead role in the live-action reimagining.
"Disney you have one chance don't blow it PLEASE," someone wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, along with side-by-side photos of Rapunzel and Sabrina in a "Tangled"-inspired costume for Halloween. Another pointed out, "Sabrina Carpenter. She's been working with Disney for years."
A third similarly proposed, "Only one answer. Sabrina Carpenter." A fourth argued, "Sabrina would actually be perfect for this especially since she can sing so well." A fifth fan added, "The way I see it you only have two options. Sabrina Carpenter or Florence Pugh."
Others also shared their thoughts on who should be playing Flynn Rider. "CAST TAYLOR LAUTNER AS FLYNN AND SABRINA CARPENTER AS RAPUNZEL," someone asked. Another demanded, "SABRINA CARPENTER AND [Taylor Zakhar Perez] FOR THE TANGLED LIVE ACTION LIKE THE VISION IS SO CLEAR."
On Wednesday, December 11, Variety reported that Disney is developing a live-action remake of "Tangled", a modern take on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale about Rapunzel. Mandy Moore voiced the spirited and sweet Rapunzel, while Zachary Levi lent his voice to the charming thief Flynn Rider.
Sabrina first gained recognition after starring on Disney Channel's series "Girl Meets World" (2014-2017). Aside from her acting career, she has released four studio albums. After opening for Taylor Swift on "The Eras Tour" in 2023, she embarked on her first arena tour, "The Short n' Sweet Tour", which began on September 23 and will conclude on April 4, 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden.
