AceShowbiz - Drake Bell has expressed his desire to revive the iconic "Drake & Josh" sitcom, this time taking inspiration from the critically acclaimed comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
In a recent interview on the "Beyond the Velvet Rope" podcast, Bell stated, "I have a special place in my heart for 'Drake & Josh' and would love to revisit the character." He envisions a reboot where Bell and Josh Peck, who played Josh Nichols, portray fictionalized versions of themselves as they navigate present-day challenges.
Bell explained his idea, "Maybe we're trying to rekindle our friendship, but Josh is hesitant because I'm annoying. I'm open to any kind of spin-off that mirrors the format of 'Entourage' or "Curb Your Enthusiasm'."
The actor also expressed interest in reuniting with the original "Drake & Josh" cast members, including Jerry Trainor (Crazy Steve), Yvette Nicole Brown (Helen) and Miranda Cosgrove (Megan) among others. "It would be amazing to bring back the whole gang and see how they've grown," Bell said.
"Drake & Josh" ran for four seasons from 2004 to 2007, featuring two stepbrothers with contrasting personalities who must learn to coexist after their parents' marriage. The sitcom was a critical and commercial success, spawning two television movies and a TV special.
While there are no official plans for a "Drake & Josh" reboot at present, Nickelodeon has recently found success in reviving popular early 2000s shows such as "iCarly", "Zoey 101" and "Good Burger". Bell's enthusiasm for a "Curb Your Enthusiasm"-inspired reboot suggests that fans of the original series may have reason to be optimistic about a potential return.
