Despite the unprecedented global success of Netflix's hit series 'Squid Game' , creator Hwang Dong-hyuk reveals he received minimal financial compensation.

AceShowbiz - "Squid Game" director and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has disclosed that he made very little money from the first season of the phenomenon. Despite its record-breaking success on the streaming platform, Hwang expressed excitement for the second season in hopes of a more substantial paycheck.

Speaking to Radio Times, Hwang recalled his upbringing and the financial hardships he faced. "I honestly didn't make much" from the first season, he admitted. "So doing the second season will help compensate me for the success of the first one."

Hwang noted that his childhood experiences influenced the show's themes of poverty and inequality. "Our family was not the most well off," he said. "I had a lot of experience with being poor and having a tough time making ends meet."

The second season trailer has sparked excitement among fans, featuring new players, a vengeful Seong Gi-hun, and the possible return of Jun-ho, the presumed-dead police officer. Gi-hun appears to take on a leadership role, urging the players to confront the game's creators.

In an eerie chant, the players demand "One more game!" Fans have speculated that the chant reflects Gi-hun's gambling addiction and his determination to end the game.

"Squid Game" season 2 will premiere globally on Netflix on December 26th, promising more action and intrigue.
