The former first daughter and co-host of 'Today with Hoda and Jenna', has expressed her desire to play a role in Dolly Parton's upcoming biographical Broadway musical, 'Dolly: An Original Musical'.

AceShowbiz - On the Monday, December 9 episode of "Today with Hoda & Jenna," Jenna Bush Hager teased her Broadway aspirations while discussing Dolly Parton's nationwide talent search for someone to portray the country superstar on stage. The co-host revealed that she wanted to be part of the project.

"Dolly. Please?" Bush Hager pleaded, "I just want a little small part!" Her co-host, Hoda Kotb, joined in the fun, saying, "It would be a dream, Dolly, if my friend Jenna Bush Hager might have a shot at something."

Bush Hager suggested, "Or what about part of the chorus? What about a part of the ensemble?" but Kotb quickly shut down that idea.

Undeterred, Bush Hager even filmed an audition video in which she spoke the lyrics to Parton's "Jolene" while wearing a curly, bleach blonde wig.

"Dolly: An Original Musical" will follow Parton's life and career and will feature both classic Parton songs and new numbers specifically written for the show. The musical is being co-written by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter and will be directed by Bartlett Sher.

Parton announced the open casting call earlier this month, encouraging everyone to try out for the opportunity to play her on stage. The application window will close on January 12, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST. After reviewing submissions, the show will invite promising applicants to New York City for formal auditions.

Bush Hager's playful audition has sparked enthusiasm on social media, with many viewers expressing their support for her Broadway dreams.
