AceShowbiz - Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II sustained a hand injury on Thursday, December 5 while filming the Netflix series "Man on Fire" in Mexico City. While the injury was deemed minor, it forced production to pause temporarily.
"Man on Fire" is an eight-episode drama series that adapts A.J. Quinnell's first two books, "Man on Fire" and "The Perfect Kill." Abdul-Mateen II plays John Creasy, a former Special Forces mercenary now struggling with PTSD.
Kyle Killen ("Fear Street") serves as the showrunner and executive producer while Steven Caple Jr. ("Transformers: Rise of the Beasts") directs the first two episodes.
Despite the injury, Abdul-Mateen II is expected to return to the set before the production break for the holidays on December 20. The filming schedule has been adjusted to accommodate his absence.
Abdul-Mateen II has won an Emmy Award for his role in "Watchmen" and starred in several critically acclaimed films, including "The Trial of the Chicago 7," "Candyman," "Matrix Resurrections," "Ambulance," and "Aquaman."
Netflix has declined to comment on the injury.
