A reboot of the beloved medical comedy 'Scrubs' is in the works, with creator Bill Lawrence hinting at the return of the original cast, including Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke.

AceShowbiz - The original "Scrubs" series concluded after eight seasons on NBC, ending with one of the most acclaimed sitcom finales. It was later picked up for a ninth and final season on ABC. Now, creator Bill Lawrence is bringing the show back for another revival.
The new "Scrubs" series is in development at ABC through 20th Television, a Disney company. Lawrence will not be serving as showrunner if the series is picked up. Casting and direction plans remain undisclosed.
However, Lawrence has hinted at a potential return of several key players from the original cast, including Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn. Lawrence emphasized the need for the revival to blend insights into the medical world with a fresh perspective on how young professionals navigate it.
Lawrence, who previously held all five roles of showrunner, director, writer, producer and executive producer on the original "Scrubs", went on to create the successful sitcoms "Cougar Town" and "Ted Lasso". While "Ted Lasso" seemed to have a conclusive ending, it could potentially return for another season with Warner Bros. Television.
"The best thing about [questions about the future of 'Ted Lasso'] is that it replaced, for a second, having to talk about whether or not 'Scrubs' was going to get rebooted," Lawrence said. "I accidentally mentioned that I might figure this out in the next six months because I just wanted to stop talking about 'Ted Lasso'."
The original "Scrubs" aired from 2001 to 2010 and featured the medical staff of Sacred Heart Hospital, primarily from the perspective of J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). The series received a Peabody Award in 2006. Along with Braff, the cast included Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison and Neil Flynn.
