AceShowbiz - James Van Der Beek, known for his roles in ""Dawson's Creek" and "Varsity Blues," has disclosed his diagnosis of stage three colorectal cancer. To help cover his treatment costs, he is selling signed jerseys from the movie.
The jerseys, designed to resemble the one worn by Van Der Beek's character Jonathan "Mox" Moxon, are part of a merchandise drop commemorating the film's 25th anniversary. "#cancerisexpensive," Van Der Beek emphasized that cancer treatment is costly with his hashtag.
He explained that 100% of his net proceeds from the jersey sales will go towards assisting families facing financial hardship due to cancer, including his own.
Amid his ongoing health challenges, the actor remains cautiously optimistic, expressing gratitude for the support of his family and friends.
Besides selling merchandise, he recently joined celebrities participating in Fox TV's "The Real Full Monty," a special aimed at raising awareness about colorectal, testicular, and prostate cancer. The program involves celebrated figures baring all to encourage discussion and screenings.
On Thanksgiving, Van Der Beek expressed profound gratitude for his wife Kimberly's unwavering support and his six children, who bring him joy and motivation. He also acknowledged the numerous well-wishers and prayers from his followers, commenting that every act of kindness makes a difference.
