The 'Fast and Furious' film franchise faces challenges and delays in planning sequels after 'Fast X', partly because of the internal conflicts among the higher-ups in Universal Studios.

AceShowbiz - As the next installment in the "Fast and Furious" franchise is being delayed until 2026, three years after the cliffhanger ending of "Fast X", Vin Diesel, the franchise star, has expressed his frustration with the lack of clarity from Universal Studios regarding the development of the sequels.

Diesel has accused Universal of contradicting statements, with one executive demanding the new "Fast" movie by March 2026 and another requesting two movies as the finale. Diesel has also highlighted the pressure to reconcile with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for a reunion in the franchise finale.

For his part, Vin Diesel said he just wanted "to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood."

Originally, there were plans for a solo spinoff film starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa as their respective characters, Luke Hobbs and Dante Reyes, and for the tenth installment to be split into two parts. However, insiders now claim that the script for "Fast X: Part 2" is being repurposed for "Fast XI" as a standalone feature with intent to keep going after the 11th movie.

Despite Diesel's desire for a back-to-basics reboot of the franchise, Universal reportedly remains interested in exploring a Hobbs spinoff and potentially extending the franchise beyond the current main cast.

The future of the "Fast and Furious" franchise remains uncertain as Universal Studios navigates conflicting demands and Diesel expresses his desire for a clear direction. With multiple options on the table, including a possible trilogy finale or a spinoff-led continuation, the fate of the beloved franchise hangs in the balance.
