AceShowbiz - Ally Shapiro, the daughter of former "The Real Housewives of New York" star Jill Zarin, has condemned "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" for filming a scene involving Mary Cosby and her son, Robert Jr., discussing his drug addiction.
In an Instagram Story on Thursday, Shapiro criticized the show's handling of Robert Jr.'s personal battle: "I don't think it's ok that this was filmed like this. I think that it should have been once he was in or out of rehab, with a therapist etc. He doesn't seem like a public person and this will follow him the rest of his life."
During Wednesday's episode, Robert Jr., 21, openly discussed his substance abuse, admitting to misusing Adderall, Xanax, Oxycontin, and mixing other drugs like acid, molly, and cocaine. The scene depicted an emotional conversation between mother and son, but Shapiro argued that it should have been kept private.
"While it was a powerful moment between a mom and her son – its a moment I think should have been shared off camera, or after he was healthy," she wrote. "These are real people, and a 21 year old kid who needs help. I was you to think – a storyline, and what cost?"
Cosby has since shared a positive update about her son's recovery, telling Page Six, "Robert is steady … which for me is healthy. He's working on himself, on telling lies, he's working on himself, on being honest with me and not trying to deceive me."
