'America's Next Top Model' has come under fire for allegations of exploitation and emotional distress, as revealed in the docuseries 'Dark Side of Reality TV'.

AceShowbiz - Former "'America's Next Top Model" cycle 24 runner-up Jeana Turner has accused the show's production team of airing her confessional interview answer about suicidal thoughts as her reaction to losing the competition. Turner claims she was subjected to hours of intense questioning and begged for it to stop. The footage was allegedly used out of context to create a false narrative.

Turner also shared her experience as an alopecia sufferer, expressing the intense pressure she felt to talk about her hair loss on the show. She recalls being so distressed by shaving her head on camera that the cameras had to be turned off.

In addition to Turner's allegations, many other "Top Model" contestants have spoken out against the show's editing process and manipulative tactics. Former contestants have shared stories of controversial challenges that included painting their skin dark colors and being exploited after the death of a loved one.

Host and executive producer Tyra Banks has responded to some of these allegations, stating that a team of storytellers decides on the narratives and that footage is reviewed by a team before being sent to the network. However, the network maintains final approval on all episodes.

"ANTM" has run for 24 cycles across three networks, but has not been formally canceled despite its last new episode airing in 2018. Banks had previously expressed interest in bringing the show back for one final cycle, but there are currently no plans for new episodes.

These allegations highlight the potential risks and ethical concerns surrounding reality television production practices, and raise questions about the well-being of participants.
