The 'Hawkeye' actors discusses in a new interview the difficulty finding actors willing to discuss his Donald Trump biopic, 'The Apprentice', due to concerns from publicists.

AceShowbiz - Sebastian Stan has revealed that he was unable to participate in Variety's "Actors on Actors" due to the lack of another actor willing to discuss his Donald Trump biopic, "The Apprentice".

"I couldn't find another actor to do it with me because they were too afraid to go and talk about this movie," Stan said at a screening of "The Apprentice" in Los Angeles.

Stan emphasized that he was not trying to blame anyone but acknowledged the fear among publicists and representatives in discussing the film.

Stan's comments come amid ongoing discussion about the normalization of Trump in American politics. According to Carlos Lozada's New York Times op-ed, Trump's election to the presidency, despite not winning the popular vote, necessitates a closer examination of the forces driving his support.

"The film is a story of how young Donald Trump was formed with the help of his mentor, Roy Cohn, and how he became the person we now know," said director Ali Abbasi. "But it's also a story of a system, the depiction of the American system, the legal system, the inherent corruption in a system that allowed people like Roy Cohn to navigate freely and pull the levers of power."

Despite the controversy, Stan believes "The Apprentice" is essential viewing to understand the current political climate. "If all it's saying is you cannot keep casting this person aside, especially after they get the popular vote, should we not give this a closer look and try to understand what it is about this person that's even driving that?" he said.
