AceShowbiz - Jason "Sundance" Head, known for his soulful country tunes and as the winner of season 11 of NBC's "The Voice," is recuperating at home after a traumatic accident at his Texas ranch. The singer, 46, found himself battling for survival on Friday, November 15, after he accidentally shot himself while hunting alone in the woods.

Following the mishap, Head's wife, Misty, detailed on Facebook that he was discharged from the hospital late Friday night after receiving medical attention. She shared how the three-hour drive home was arduous, given that the painkillers were losing their effect and Sundance was "bleeding badly through his dressings."

Misty explained, "I was able to change and clean out the dressing and repack, though he's not an easy patient, and gave him some Motrin. Not sure I slept because I was worried about him," adding that "hearing him snore was music to my ears."

The severity of the accident was further highlighted as Misty shared that the bullet could have caused devastating damage had it hit an inch higher or lower. Despite the close call, Sundance will not require surgery as the bullet, which entered above his navel and lodged into his abdominal wall, missed all vital organs. Doctors have decided not to remove the bullet.

Relaying what happened immediately after the accident, Misty noted that Sundance was unable to call for help because his phone was drenched in blood. Struggling to find assistance, he made his way to a nearby road where a Good Samaritan eventually stopped to help. He was then airlifted to a hospital where he received medical attention.

Misty posted an image of the bullet-riddled shirt her husband wore during the accident, cautioning fans against examining the damage too closely if they have weak stomachs. She closed her updates with gratitude for the prayers and support they have received, and promised to share further information once available.
