The reports regarding the series previously stemmed from speculation that the studio was planning to connect 'The Batman Part II' and 'The Batman Part III' through a Joker series.

AceShowbiz - DC Studios co-head James Gunn has dismissed rumors that a Joker series starring Barry Keoghan is in development. The actor made a brief cameo as the Joker in 2022's "The Batman", and a deleted scene later showcased his performance opposite Robert Pattinson's "Batman".
Gunn took to social media to debunk the rumors, stating, "A Joker series is not being discussed nor has even come up at this time." The reports originated from an episode of the Marvelvision podcast, which claimed that Gunn and director Matt Reeves were planning a Joker series to bridge the gap between "The Batman Part II" and "The Batman Part III".
Keoghan initially auditioned for the role of the Riddler, but was later offered the part of the Joker. He described his portrayal as "a bit charming and a bit hurt," emphasizing the human element behind the villain's facade.
Despite Keoghan's enthusiasm for the role, Reeves has expressed hesitation about revisiting the Joker in his "Batman" films. He previously stated that he had no plans to continue the character's storyline, adding, "I'm not sure exactly."
The denial of a Joker series comes amidst the recent box office failure of "Joker: Folie a Deux". Gunn also noted that HBO's ongoing "The Penguin" series, starring Colin Farrell, is intended to connect the events of "The Batman" and "The Batman Part II", further dampening any expectations for a spinoff focused on the Joker.
