AceShowbiz - Demi Moore, the 61-year-old actress, has treated her fans to a spine-tingling Halloween surprise by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the set of her horror film, "The Substance."
On Thursday, October 31, Moore took to Instagram to unveil haunting images that showcase the intricate makeup and prosthetics she underwent to portray Elisabeth Sparkle, a Hollywood star who faces an existential crisis after losing her long-running aerobics show on her 50th birthday.
In the photos, Moore appears utterly transformed, donning heavy makeup, prosthetics, and glasses that make her resemble a frail, elderly woman. The gruesome details include saggy body parts and minimal hair, giving fans a glimpse of the intense physical transformation required for the role.
"Been holding onto these gems from @trythesubstance and today feels like an appropriate day to share them," Moore captioned the post. "Happy Halloween from Elisabeth Sparkle."
In "The Substance," Moore's character Elisabeth is introduced to a black market drug that allows her to create a younger version of herself, portrayed by Margaret Qualley. The film explores the conflict that ensues between Elisabeth and this other self, known as Sue, as the latter finds fame in Los Angeles while Elisabeth's body deteriorates rapidly.
Moore's Instagram post has garnered praise from her famous friends, including Emma Heming Willis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Barbara Crampton, who applauded her performance in the film.
"The Substance" is directed by French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat and also stars Dennis Quaid as the sleazy television executive responsible for Elisabeth Sparkle's aerobics show. The film has recently made headlines after being submitted to the Golden Globe Awards in the comedy and musical category.
