Nick Cannon has opened up about his struggles with identity and masculinity during his marriage to Mariah Carey, stating that he questioned who he was outside of their relationship.

AceShowbiz - Appearing on the "Ray Daniels Presents" podcast, Nick Cannon, 44, shared his experiences during his marriage to Mariah Carey, 55, from 2008 to 2014. He admitted to feeling insecure due to the significant difference in their careers and fame levels.

"I got married in my 20s to the biggest star in the world," Cannon said. "My trajectory was here, and hers was already in a different stratosphere."

Cannon struggled to find his own identity amidst the attention their relationship received. "I would lay up at night thinking, 'Is this who I am? Am I Mariah's man? Is that what my life is supposed to be?'"

Furthermore, Cannon reflected on challenges related to his masculinity within their family dynamic. "I'm carrying a purse, a diaper bag, and standing on the corner like, 'Wait,'" he described. "She's rocking being the alpha." However, he recognized that Mariah "needs a dude like that" who supports her strong personality.

Despite his insecurities, Cannon believes that he and Carey "belong together." He has expressed a desire to reconcile with her, but acknowledges that she has moved on.

Cannon and Carey met in 2008 and married secretly after a few months of dating. They welcomed twins in 2011 before announcing their divorce in 2014. Both parties have since spoken openly about their relationship and the reasons for their separation.
