AceShowbiz - Tony Hinchcliffe has insisted that he is not racist despite his recent controversial remarks. The host of live comedy podcast "Kill Tony" slammed Tim Walz after making an offensive joke at a Donald Trump rally.
On Sunday, October 27, Tony made use of his X, formerly known as Twitter, account to share his response to people criticizing him over his joke about Puerto Rico. The comedian, who was born in Ohio, tweeted, "These people have no sense of humor."
Tony went on to say, "Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his 'busy schedule' to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist." He defended himself by writing, "I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone...watch the whole set. I'm a comedian Tim...might be time to change your tampon."
Tony was replying to a tweet, which featured a video of Kamala Harris' Vice President candidate Tim reacting to the joke about Puerto Rico. In the short clip, Tim stated in part, "People in Puerto Rico are citizens. They pay taxes and serve in the military at almost a higher rate than anybody else."
Tim's reaction came shortly after Tony made an appearance at Donald Trump's rally, which took place at Madison Square Garden earlier that day. During the event, Tony stepped on the stage to give a speech. At one point, he said, "It is absolutely wild times. It really really is."
Tony continued, "And you know, there's a lot going on. Like, I don't if you guys know this but there's literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it's called Puerto Rico." His statement promoted the audience to protest, leading him to say, "Okay, alright. Okay, we're getting there."
In the wake of the remarks, Tony received backlash from many social media users. One in particular wrote, "Garbage is what came out of the mouth of @TonyHinchcliffe, and everyone who cheered him on should be ashamed of themselves for disrespecting Puerto Rico like this."
Another chimed in, "Hi this racist bigot is Tony Hinchcliffe who said Puerto Rico was a garbage island at the Trump Rally. He's signed by @unitedtalent and it would be great if we could get him dropped."
