AceShowbiz - As Election Day is coming closer, tensions are palpable in Hollywood. Zachary Levi and Whoopi Goldberg engaged in a verbal exchange over Hollywood's political landscape.
In response to Goldberg who asserted that Levi's statement labeling Hollywood a liberal town was inaccurate, citing the presence of conservative actors like Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid, Levi argued that these examples were isolated and that many actors in Hollywood fear expressing conservative views due to potential backlash.
"That's why you don't see them. That's why they're not very prevalent or prominent because they know that there's ramifications for this kind of s***," he vented his frustrations.
Levi found the industry "already eroded" due to the pandemic and strikes, encouraging closeted conservatives to come out and publicly support Donald Trump. He acknowledged the potential ramifications for speaking out but emphasized that the industry is rapidly changing and urged individuals to not be deterred by fears of backlash.
Levi's comments stem from his endorsement of Trump at a rally last month, which he initially supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before turning his allegiance to Trump. He described his decision to support Trump as a potential "career suicide," but Goldberg dismissed Levi's fears as "BS."
In response, Levi encouraged others in the industry to speak out, asserting that it is "now or never." He predicted that the entertainment industry will undergo significant changes, rendering fears of backlash irrelevant.
"Do whatever you feel like you need to do if you need to come out publicly and say it. If you feel like you still can't, then don't. I would never pressure you to do that," he said. "But know that if what you're afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that's not going to exist very soon, then don't let that hold you back."
