While the rapper is facing numerous assault and racketeering charges, the embattled hip-hop mogul's music career has experienced a resurgence on streaming platforms.

AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' ongoing legal troubles have cast a shadow over his once-thriving music career. However, data from Chartmetric indicates that Diddy's streaming numbers have been on the rise.
As of now, Diddy has 1.79 million Spotify followers, with an average of 13.33 million monthly listeners. Amazon Music and Soundcloud have also witnessed a slight increase in the rapper's numbers, suggesting a "growth" in momentum. Even on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, Diddy's presence has grown.
Despite this upward trend, Pandora and Deezer have reported a decline in Diddy's streaming numbers.
Amid allegations of sexual assault and racketeering, Diddy has been behind bars since his September arrest. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to face trial in May 2025.
Notably, Diddy's music has seen a surge in popularity since his arrest. Luminate, an industry data analytics company, reported an 18.3% increase in on-demand streams of Diddy's music in the week following his arrest.
This phenomenon is not uncommon in the streaming era, as artists facing controversies or legal troubles often maintain steady streaming numbers despite negative public attention. In fact, a similar pattern was observed with R. Kelly, Marilyn Manson and Michael Jackson.
Despite the rise in streaming numbers, Diddy's music career took a hit after a 2016 video of him brutally assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was leaked. Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL and YouTube Music are among the platforms where Diddy's music is available.
On Spotify, artists can earn as low as $0.0033 per stream, and Diddy currently receives 9,758,290 monthly listens on the platform.
Diddy's legal team, led by Marc Agnifilo, has previously challenged the government's use of federal trafficking charges in cases like that of Keith Raniere, the leader of the NXIVM cult. Agnifilo argues that the alleged "freak offs" involving Diddy were merely consensual intimate encounters, dismissing the trafficking charges as an overreach.
Diddy is currently being held at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center after denied bail.
