AceShowbiz - Tia Mowry, best known for her role in "Sister, Sister", has found a meaningful way to repurpose her wedding ring after her divorce from Cory Hardrict. In the latest episode of her reality show, "Tia Mowry: My Next Act", she revealed her plans to have her wedding band made into a chain necklace for her 13-year-old son, Cree, and a bracelet for her 6-year-old daughter, Cairo.
Mowry, who married Hardrict in 2008, decided to give her ring a second life rather than selling it. She explained that it didn't feel right to sell it, but she also didn't want it to just sit there. "It was very pretty," she said. "If it is made into something else then it is put to use."
Repurposing the ring brought up mixed emotions for Mowry. "This is a symbol of a marriage and it is no longer," she said. "It's sad." However, she found comfort in the idea that the ring would be transformed into something meaningful for her children. "I would rather the kids have something," she said.
Mowry filed for divorce from Hardrict in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. They finalized their divorce in April 2023. Despite the split, Mowry has maintained a positive outlook on their relationship.
"I look at it as a curriculum, like you're in college or high school," she said of her marriage. "You're learning. You're growing. You're evolving. You're creating."
Mowry said she came to the decision to divorce after realizing the importance of self-love and focusing on her own happiness. "There was just an aha moment in me where I said, 'You know what, you need to tap in and see what's really going on with your happiness. Life is short. Let's go,' " she said.
Mowry has been open about her journey of healing and self-discovery since her divorce. She has emphasized the importance of self-love and seeking out therapy. She has also received support from her fans, who applaud her resilience and honesty.
"Recovering from a divorce feels like a whirlwind journey," she said in an Instagram video. "I found out through the process that divorce isn't a place where we arrive, it's entering a new chapter in life with many nuances, and no one-size-fits-all handbook."
Mowry's decision to repurpose her wedding ring into jewelry for her children is a testament to her positive attitude and her commitment to co-parenting with Hardrict. It also serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to find strength and meaning in the journey.
