AceShowbiz - Guy Gansert, one of Joan Vassos' remaining suitors on "The Golden Bachelorette", released a statement on Instagram on October 10, addressing a temporary protective order application filed by his ex-wife, Heidi O'Gara, in October 2021.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, O'Gara filed for a temporary protective order in Reno, Nevada, alleging that Gansert had been sending harassing text messages, threatening her physically, and placing something under her car tire. She claimed he was "extremely unstable" and had taken sleep medication.
Gansert acknowledged the filing, stating that it stemmed from a "stressful time" during their divorce and that it was "resolved when [O'Gara] voluntary dismissed her request." He emphasized that he and O'Gara had "crafted a resolution that was agreeable to both parties."
Gansert expressed regret for his actions during the divorce and stated that he had undertaken a "deep personal evaluation" since then. He also expressed appreciation for the support of "The Golden Bachelorette," Bachelor Nation, and his family.
On October 12, 2021, O'Gara filed a motion to dismiss the application, which was granted by the judge. In a joint emergency motion to seal records, Gansert and O'Gara stated that they desired to maintain privacy for their family and had "reached a mutual resolution as to their relationship."
According to a source close to the production of "The Golden Bachelorette", Gansert informed producers during the vetting process about the protective order application, which was confirmed to have been dismissed. He was therefore cleared to participate in the show.
Gansert's filing comes amidst a series of allegations of misconduct against contestants on the current season of "The Golden Bachelorette." In September 2021, it was revealed that Gil Ramirez had been the subject of a temporary restraining order request, which was later dismissed. The franchise has also faced controversy related to allegations against former contestants on previous seasons of "The Bachelorette."
