AceShowbiz - Lil Tay has been navigating the complexities of internet fame since childhood, often facing controversy. However, she remains undeterred and has expanded her pursuits to include music.
Recently, the 17-year-old underwent open-heart surgery to remove a heart tumor. Amidst her recovery, she released her second single "Growing Up", which drew inspiration from her health struggles.
Unfortunately, the release of "Growing Up" has been met with criticism from some online, who accuse Lil Tay of using her health issues for attention. In response, Tay took to social media to vent her frustrations, highlighting the double standards she believes she faces compared to other artists.
She pointed out that musicians like Halsey have received praise for releasing music in conjunction with sharing their health diagnoses. Lil Tay questioned why she was accused of a PR stunt when she did the same.
"Halsey can get cancer (actually lupus and a T-cell disorder) and drop a single the exact same day she announces her cancer and its bold," she said. "But I've been gone for a f**king year 'cause I've been dealing with a lot of s**t. And suddenly I'm pulling a PR stunt?"
Despite the backlash, Lil Tay remains determined to promote "Growing Up". She believes that her personal experiences and struggles should not diminish the value of her music.
"I don't give a f**k," she declared in an Instagram video. "I'm going to promote my song like crazy."
As Lil Tay continues on her road to recovery, she is also charting her own path in the music industry, proving that adversity cannot overshadow her passion and determination.
