AceShowbiz - John Amos, the Emmy-nominated actor best known for his roles on "Good Times" and "Roots", died of congestive heart failure on August 21 at the age of 84. According to his death certificate, obtained by TMZ, there were no other significant medical conditions contributing to his death, and no autopsy was performed.

Amos' remains were cremated on August 30, nine days after his passing. His son Kelly Christopher "K.C." Amos was listed as the informant on the death certificate and is believed to be in possession of his father's ashes.

K.C. Amos confirmed his father's death on October 1 in a statement to PEOPLE. "He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold... and he was loved the world over," he said. "Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor."

Amos' daughter Shannon Amos claimed she learned of her father's death through the media, expressing devastation and questions about the circumstances surrounding his passing. Despite previous allegations of elder abuse against Amos' son, an LAPD investigation found no evidence to support the claims.

In his later years, Amos was working with his son on a docuseries titled "America's Dad", which chronicled his life and relationship with K.C.
