AceShowbiz - Macklemore has enlisted several Palestinian artists for his latest pro-Palestine song, "Hind's Hall 2." The song features Palestinian-American singer Anees Mokhiber, Gazan rapper MC Abdul, and Palestinian-American comedian and author Amer Zahr.
The song's title refers to the renaming of Hamilton Hall at Columbia University by student protesters in May as a tribute to six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was killed by the Israeli military in Gaza.
"Hind's Hall 2" opens with a melodic verse from Mokhiber, accompanied by harmonies from the LA Palestine Kids Choir and the Lifted Youth Gospel Choir. Macklemore's rap, layered over the beats from the first "Hind's Hall," enters at the three-minute mark with memorable and powerful lyrics.
In the song, Macklemore addresses the democratic candidate for the US presidential election, Kamala Harris, saying, "Hey Kamala, I don't know if you listening, but stop sending money and weapons, you ain't winning Michigan. We are committed, and hell no we ain't switching positions, because the whole world turned Palestinian."
Macklemore's lyrics express his support for the Palestinian cause and condemn the Israeli government's actions in Gaza. He raps, "You appreciate life when you survive a genocide," and "Ran out of tears to cry, rap 'til Palestine is free."
All proceeds from "Hind's Hall 2" will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as they did for the first song. Macklemore is one of the few mainstream Western musicians who has consistently raised his voice for the Palestinian cause.
