In the wake of the tragic shooting on the set of 'Rust,' Alec Baldwin's legal battle has been as dramatic as any Hollywood film. Here's the latest on the rollercoaster case that's far from over.

AceShowbiz - Alec Baldwin's legal team has filed a motion to dismiss Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey's request to reconsider the involuntary manslaughter case against him for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film "Rust" in 2021. The case was dismissed in July after Baldwin's lawyers argued that prosecutors had withheld evidence related to Hutchins' death.
In a 16-page document, Baldwin's attorneys accused Morrissey of a "continued abuse of the judicial process," including violating disclosure obligations, concealing evidence, and lying about it both during and after the trial. They argued that Morrissey's request for reconsideration is baseless and that the new evidence presented since the dismissal only further supports the original judgment.
The document goes on to state, "The Court should 'ensure the integrity of the judicial system and the efficient administration of justice' by striking and denying the State's motions."
Baldwin's team also requested that the court strike the state's defective motion and deny the motion for reconsideration due to the state's "egregious" misconduct.
The legal battle over the "Rust" shooting continues as Baldwin faces nearly a dozen civil suits related to the tragedy. The film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, but her case is currently under appeal.
The incident on the "Rust" set remains shrouded in mystery, with no definitive explanation for how live rounds ended up on the set or how one of them ended up in the gun Baldwin was holding.
