AceShowbiz - Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta CEO, recently shared how he discouraged his seven-year-old daughter, August, from pursuing a career as a professional singer like Taylor Swift. During an episode of the "Acquired" podcast, Zuckerberg explained that he told August that becoming like Swift was "not available" to her.
"We took her to a Taylor Swift concert and she was like, 'You know Dad, I kind of want to be like Taylor Swift when I grow up,' " Zuckerberg said. "I was like, 'But you can't. That's not available to you.' "
While Zuckerberg did not elaborate on why professional singing at that level was "unavailable" to his daughter, August later changed her mind and expressed a desire to be recognized for her own unique qualities.
Zuckerberg's comments sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some expressing empathy for his daughter's dreams being dashed, while others suggested that financial constraints may have been a motivating factor.
Despite his daughter's aspirations, Zuckerberg remains a fan of Swift and has attended her concerts with his family. In July 2023, he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, took their daughters to Swift's "Eras Tour" concert in California.
While Zuckerberg's advice to founders was to "do something you care about," he also emphasized the importance of originality. He encouraged entrepreneurs to learn from others but ultimately create their own path.
