AceShowbiz - Michael Madsen is seemingly resolute in ending his marriage following their physical altercation last month. The actor is pulling the plug on his marriage to DeAnna Madsen, filing for divorce from his wife, one month after his arrest for domestic violence.
The 65-year-old filed the divorce petition on Wednesday, September 18. Per TMZ's report, he cites irreconcilable differences in the documents and claims he actually separated from DeAnna back in January 2022.
But there's more to that. Michael included a statement with the petition, saying it goes far beyond no longer seeing eye to eye. He claims he's been the victim of her abuse for years and blames his wife for their son's suicide.
The "Kill Bill: Volume 2" star says he separated from his wife back in 2022 because he believes "her neglect, drinking and alcoholism" drove their son Hudson to take his own life. He also alleges that DeAnna put him in an "abusive, co-dependent and toxic relationship," which he says ended with his wrongful arrest for domestic violence last month.
Now, Michael is seeking a domestic violence restraining order against his wife.
Michael was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge on August 17 following an altercation with DeAnna. He was accused of pushing his wife and subsequently locking her out of their residence.
The "Sin City" actor was released after posting a $20k bond. "Michael has shown immense compassion and restraint during this period towards his estranged wife. He's definitely not guilty of domestic violence," his attorney Perry Wander said following his arrest at the time.
Meanwhile, DeAnna said in her own statement, "Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time." She also denied breaking into the family's Malibu home, as alleged by Michael's attorney.
The following week, the L.A. County District Attorney said they wouldn't file charges due to insufficient evidence.
Michael and DeAnna got married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in 1996, while he was on a break from shooting "Donnie Brasco". They have three sons together, Luke, Kalvin and Hudson. Hudson died by suicide in January 2022.
