AceShowbiz - Lacey Chabert's Gretchen Wieners may have failed to make "fetch" a thing in "Mean Girls", but the actress's daughter is finally embracing the term. Chabert, who shares 8-year-old Julia with husband David Nehdar, said on "Today" that Julia initially didn't understand the constant references to "fetch."
"When she was younger, she was like, 'What's fetch, why does everyone say that to you?' " Chabert recalled. However, as Julia grew older, she learned about the significance of "Mean Girls" and her mother's iconic line, "Stop trying to make fetch happen."
Chabert's daughter has also come to terms with the popularity of her mother's movies. "A couple years ago she goes, 'Mom, do other people watch the movies that you make?' I was like, 'Yes, baby, they're not just for you.' "
Despite Chabert's busy work schedule, she has always prioritized her daughter. "My daughter is my No. 1 priority," she said in 2019. "I'm lucky and incredibly fortunate that my family is able to travel with me most of the time."
Meanwhile, "Mean Girls" continues to hold a special place in pop culture. The 2004 Tina Fey-penned film inspired a musical and a recent book titled "So Fetch: The Making of Mean Girls (And Why We're Still So Obsessed with It)." So, while Gretchen Wieners may have failed to make "fetch" happen in the movie, the term has now become synonymous with one of the most beloved teen comedies of all time.
