AceShowbiz - Former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson has been cleared of domestic battery charges after her arrest on August 8 at Universal Studios in California. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the District Attorney's office concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support charges.
Jackson, 22, was detained by security personnel at the theme park after allegedly pushing the victim during an altercation. Surveillance footage reviewed by deputies showed Jackson's involvement. However, no weapons were involved and no identifiable injuries were reported.
Initially, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department stated that Jackson was the "primary aggressor." However, the victim has since declined to cooperate with prosecutors. Additionally, Jackson and her boyfriend deny any physical altercation, despite video evidence to the contrary.
Jackson's legal representative expressed relief at the outcome of the investigation, stating that the incident was a misunderstanding. Jackson is looking forward to putting the matter behind her.
"Skai is relieved that the investigation revealed that this was nothing more than a misunderstanding," he rep said in a statement to PEOPLE. "We appreciate that the DA determined very quickly that there should be no charges of any kind and Skai looks forward to putting this behind her."
It was previously reported that Jackson and her boyfriend are engaged and expecting a child. In 2016, Jackson was named to TIME Magazine's Most Influential Teens list for her advocacy against cyberbullying. Her recent roles include the film "Sheroes" and the Disney Channel spin-off "Bunk'd".
