In a new magazine interview, the popular celebrity chef shares the details of his cycling accident that left him severely bruised but grateful to be alive.

AceShowbiz - Gordon Ramsay, known for his fiery demeanor on "Hell's Kitchen", has revealed the frightening details behind his recent bike accident. In an interview with Men's Health, Ramsay divulged that he hit a "crater-like pothole," causing his bike to spin 180 degrees and ejecting him from his seat.

Horrified, Ramsay noticed his helmet had cracked, impairing his vision and leaving him dazed and bloody. Summoning his assistant, Justin Mandel, he was rushed to a hospital and underwent CT scans, which revealed no broken bones. However, Ramsay endured daily lymphatic drainage treatments and physiotherapy due to his extensive bruising.

The impact of the accident extended beyond his physical wounds. Ramsay was rendered helpless, unable to dress himself or perform simple tasks. "I felt like a f-king 95-year-old man," he confessed. "Asking a 30-year-old kid to put my f-king underpants on was embarrassing."

Despite the ordeal, Ramsay is grateful to be alive. "My life flashed before me," he recalled. "I thought I was going to pass out." He credits his fitness and "hardy Scottish bones" for aiding his recovery.

The incident has reinforced the importance of helmets for Ramsay. "Honestly, you've got to wear a helmet," he stressed. "I don't care how short the journey is." He showed off the large purple bruise that extended from his waist to his ribs as a sobering reminder of his close call.

Ramsay has since returned to training, including swimming and cycling. He emphasizes that his rigorous fitness regimen played a crucial role in his recovery. "I'm lucky to be here because I'm fit," he declared.
