AceShowbiz - Elton John has got candid about his ongoing struggle with a severe eye infection that has significantly affected his vision. On September 3, he took to Instagram to reveal the news, explaining, "Over the summer, I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye."
While the healing process is slow, John remains hopeful, stating, "I am healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye."
Gratitude has been at the forefront of John's message. He expressed heartfelt thanks to his "excellent team of doctors and nurses," as well as his family - husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 - who have been supportive throughout this challenging period. "I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far," he noted.
The response to John's health update has been overwhelmingly supportive. Fans and celebrities alike have flooded his Instagram comments with well-wishes. Notable figures such as Carnie Wilson, Rosanna Arquette, and Donatella Versace offered supportive messages, reminding the world of the profound impact John has had on so many lives.
This isn't the first health challenge the EGOT-winning artist has faced recently. Last year, John suffered a fall at his villa in Nice, France, which resulted in a brief hospital stay. He also underwent knee replacement surgery in January and had plans for a second surgery in March to ensure full recovery. "By the time the summer rolls around, he'll have two brand new spanking knees," Furnish shared optimistically.
Despite these setbacks, John's spirit remains indomitable. His Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which concluded in July 2023, became the highest-grossing tour in history, earning over $900 million.
