AceShowbiz - Matthew Perry's ex was left suspicious about details surrounding his death. Kayti Edwards encouraged a wider probe into the "Friends" alum's fatal ketamine shot because he'd sworn against needles.
"This is the weird thing to me," Kayti told The Mirror in an interview published on Friday, August 23. "Matthew always, always told me that he would never, ever use needles or inject anything into his body."
"I would often see him very high and using lots of different drugs. I would always get so scared, and tell him that he had to stop mixing all this stuff, saying 'you're gonna die,' " she recalled. "But he was like, 'You only die when you use needles... and I would never, ever, ever do that.' "
Kayti previously claimed "there are a lot of things that aren't adding up for me." She additionally told The Sun in November 2023, "I don't believe he just drowned in his Jacuzzi, that doesn't sound right. I know Matthew and I know that he wouldn't have just drowned. I think he might have taken pills in the week leading up to this."
"They said there were no prescription painkillers at the scene, which doesn't surprise me, because he didn't leave drugs lying around," she continued. "He was paranoid and would take them all, so there wasn't any evidence, and then go out for more when he was ready to."
Earlier this week, Matthew's former personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, [u=/news/view/00231637.html]pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. In his plea agreement, Kenneth admitted to administering the actor with substantial quantities of ketamine, totaling around "6-8 shots per day," in the days preceding his death on October 28, 2023.
Kenneth revealed that he had found Matthew "unconscious at his residence on at least two occasions" in October. On the day of Matthew's death, he had injected the actor twice before Matthew allegedly requested a third dose, which turned out to be his final. After administering the last dose, Kenneth left and later found the Hollywood star unresponsive in his jacuzzi.
The investigation into Matthew's death has resulted in charges against five individuals: Kenneth, Erik Fleming, Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, and Jasveen Sangha. Dr. Salvador allegedly provided Matthew with ketamine and taught Kenneth how to inject it. the doctors are also accused of profiting from Matthew's addiction.
