AceShowbiz - On August 17, Tammy Slaton took to TikTok to announce her latest achievement in her weight loss journey. Featuring in a video set to Andra Day's inspirational song "Rise Up", Tammy showcased her slimmed-down figure alongside five fellow "weight loss warriors." Altogether, the group has shed a collective 2,078 pounds.
"Truly absolutely amazing ladies and I'm happy to call y'all all my friends," the 38-year-old reality star wrote. "I'm so proud of each and every one of y'all. Not only are you beautiful on the inside but you're gorgeous on the outside. Never forget." Since the debut of "1,000-Lb Sisters" in January 2020, viewers have closely followed Tammy's health journey, celebrating her every success along the way.
Tammy's path hasn't been without challenges. Weighing over 700 pounds at her heaviest, she underwent a 14-month stay in a weight loss rehab facility and eventually had bariatric surgery in July 2022. Since then, she has continued to document her progress on television and social media, sharing significant milestones such as losing 440 pounds as of December 2023.
One of the biggest changes for Tammy after her weight loss has been her ability to walk unaided. Once dependent on a walker or wheelchair, and requiring oxygen tubes, she proudly noted her newfound independence. "Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don't even sleep with it at night anymore," she told PEOPLE. This progress has been monumental for Tammy, who now can perform everyday activities that most take for granted, such as fitting into a regular car seat without needing a seatbelt extender.
