AceShowbiz - More details about the postponement of Usher's nearly year-long world tour have been revealed. After Usher put his "Past Present Future" shows on hold due to a neck injury, it has been reported that the "You Make Me Wanna..." singer's wife Jennifer Goicoechea was "pressuring" him to make the decision.
Recently, Media Take Out spilled that the 45-year-old R&B icon's "new wife Jennifer Goicoechea pushed him to cancel the shows." Speaking to the media outlet, a source, who claimed to know the wedded couple, said, "I'm not saying that Usher isn't injured. But he's always injured, that's part of being a performer of his calibre. It's Jenn who is pressuring him to cancel [tour dates]."
The outlet noted that Jennifer might have done so to "preserve her husband's long term health." However, it was said that "there may be more to it than that." According to the outlet, "Usher spent a lot of time with his wife and young children this summer, and his wife Jenn wanted to keep her husband to herself a little longer." The informant stated, "She was looking for an excuse to keep him around longer."
The revelation came after Usher announced a delay in the start of the "Past Present Future" tour. He initially postponed his opening night concert planned for August 14 and subsequently rescheduled two additional performances on August 16 and 17.
Making use of his Instagram page, Usher wrote, "Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest USHER show of all time." Assuring his fans, he continued, "The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington DC on August 20th."
The rescheduled dates for the Atlanta shows at State Farm Arena are now set for December, with the August 14 show moved to December 9, the August 16 show to December 10 and the August 17 performance to December 12.
