AceShowbiz - Following a three-week break due to the 2024 Olympics, "America's Got Talent" season 19 returned with a new episode on Tuesday, August 13. In the new episode, which marked the first night of Quarterfinals round, judges Sofia Vergara, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel continued their search for the best talent.
Kicking off the night, host Terry Crews revealed that Quarterfinals would see 11 acts performing each night. Three of the 11 acts will advance to the Finals, two of them were voted by the public and one other was selected as a live show Golden Buzzer. Sofia was in charge of making the decision that night.
Flewnt & Inkabee, a 12-year-old rapper and his dad, performed first. They hoped to "give the Aboriginal people a voice" in their performance. Heidi "loved the coolness" and confidence of their act, while Sofia loved their relationship the most.
Later, Hungarian shadow theater group Attraction Juniors hit the stage. Sofia and Simon praised the group as they thought the performance was "light and fun." Simon said that they performed better than their audition, but Howie wasn't convinced.
Simon's Golden Buzzer singer Liv Warfield followed it up, singing a "very special song" that Prince wrote for her. Simon called the performance "unbelievable," while Sofia thought it was a "perfection." Heidi said that she "loved every second of it."
Country rock band Ashes & Arrows performed next. Their performance apparently managed to change Howie's opinion on them with Heidi saying that they "sounded great."
Up next was the Tanzanian men of Hakuna Matata Acrobatic. The judges were on their feet after watching their performance as Simon said it was "one of the most dangerous and difficult acts" they've seen on the live shows. Sofia was totally impressed as she hit her Golden Buzzer for them.
Baton twirler Phillip Lewis, meanwhile, looked struggling to catch batons as he dropped three before lighting them on fire and tossing them in the air again. He luckily caught all of the flaming ones. Simon said he "liked it even more" because dropping them shows how hard it is, while Sofia said the performance was exciting and fun to watch.
Dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm hit the stage to bring another fun performance. Howie said he would give them a Golden Buzzer if he could. Sofia called them "one of the most amazing acts" because Rhythm is "really dancing," and Heidi said Rhythm dances "better than humans."
Contortionist Arshiya returned with her horror-influenced act, which Heidi called "incredible" despite giving her nightmares. Sofia said it was both "horrific and horrifying," while Simon dubbed it one of his favorite auditions of the season.
Concluding the night was Heidi's Golden Buzzer singer Richard Goodall, who took the stage to sing "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You". Simon thought he was "too old fashioned," but Sofie called his performance "so beautiful." Howie, on the other hand, urged people to vote for him.
