AceShowbiz - Vanessa Lachey (Vanessa Minnillo), who played NCIS team leader Jane Tennant on "NCIS: Hawaii" since 2021, recently bid an emotional farewell to Hawaii in an Instagram post that captured the hearts of many fans. Accompanied by snapshots of her family and the scenic Hawaiian landscape, Vanessa expressed her gratitude and sadness after CBS canceled the show in April.
"A Hui Hou" and "Mahalo Nui Loa for 3 beautiful, magical years you gave me and my family!" she shared, alongside sentiments of moving on to the next adventure with her husband Nick Lachey and their three children.
The Lachey family, comprising Camden, 11, Brooklyn, 9, and Phoenix, 7, made a home in Hawaii during Vanessa's tenure on the show. Her portrayal of Jane Tennant, head of a fictionalized version of the Naval Criminal Investigation Service at the Pearl Harbor Field Office, was historic as she was the franchise's first female lead.
Vanessa was deeply touched by her role, often sharing moments from their Hawaiian life on social media. In May, she reflected, "You see... we aren't meant to be here forever, we are on borrowed time...we leave it better for the next dreamer."
Vanessa's farewell post spurred an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom expressed their disappointment over the show's cancellation yet wished the family well on their next journey. "I agree, home is where your family is. But I really wished 'NCIS Hawai'i' didn't get cancelled," wrote one Instagram user. Another comment read, "We will never forget Jane Tennant!!"
Vanessa and Nick, who have been married since 2011, are now embarking on a new chapter away from the Hawaiian islands they've come to love. Despite the show's cancellation, Vanessa remains optimistic, encouraging her followers to "continue to push the envelope and break glass ceilings," adding, "Anything we dream is ours for the taking, no matter what the circumstance!"
