AceShowbiz - During an appearance on "The Jamie Kern Lima Show", Hoda Kotb opened up about the reasons behind her split from her former fiance Joel Schiffman. The "Today" co-host explained that they were "growing at different paces" and that their relationship was not working out.
"One person's growing ... or one person wants it this way, and one person wants it that way," Kotb said. "I think a lot of people are probably in these situations."
Despite the breakup, Kotb still holds her ex in high regard. "Joel is one of the best people I know," she said. "He really is a great human being. And I feel like I'm a pretty great human being, but sometimes two great human beings together isn't quite enough to make it work."
Kotb also shared that she is hopeful for the future and is open to new relationships. "I can see romance clearly, I just can," she told Page Six after her 60th birthday. "It's how you know something is meant to be."
Since her breakup, Kotb has remained committed to co-parenting her adopted daughters, Haley and Hope, with Schiffman. "We've got a really nice, easy situation," she said.
Kotb's journey through love and heartbreak has taught her the importance of self-care. "I feel like this is the season of repotting and growth," she said. "There's this feeling that the roots are up in the air, but then you land in this rich soil and you're like, 'Oh, more room to grow.' "
