AceShowbiz - Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, who star as Anna and Tess, respectively, in the "Freakier Friday", have revealed details about Manny Jacinto's role. Jacinto, known for his work on "The Good Place" and "The Acolyte", will portray Anna's husband, but his character's name hasn't been disclosed.
Curtis told Entertainment Weekly, "Manny plays Lindsay's husband, but that's as much as we can say." Lohan added, "Manny is lovely, so funny."
Chad Michael Murray, who played Anna's love interest Jake in the original film, is also returning to the sequel. Curtis teased, "Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, is Chad in it."
While the sequel's synopsis doesn't explicitly mention Anna being married, it does reveal that she has a daughter of her own and is preparing to gain a stepdaughter in her new marriage. This suggests that Anna and Jake are not together in the film.
In addition to Lohan, Curtis, and Murray, several other cast members from the first movie will return, including Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. Newcomers to the franchise include Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.
The "Freaky Friday" sequel is directed by Nisha Ganatra ("Late Night") and written by Jordan Weiss ("Dollface"). Producers include Curtis, Kristin Burr, and Andrew Gunn, who worked on the original film. Lohan, Nathan Kelly, and Ann Marie Sanderlin serve as executive producers.
"Freakier Friday" is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025.
