The 'Just Another Day in Paradise' crooner shares his harrowing experience of surviving both a heart attack and a stroke, claiming he was brought back to life after being shocked 11 times.

AceShowbiz - Phil Vassar, best known for his hit singles like "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "Last Day of My Life," faced a life-threatening health crisis in early 2023. He had been feeling unwell during a Christmas tour with fellow country singer Deana Carter, leading to the medical scare.

Vassar experienced a heart attack followed by a stroke, a medical emergency attributed to a hereditary condition. Despite his healthy lifestyle - eschewing fried foods and maintaining a rigorous fitness regimen - the genetic heart disease caught up with him.

The heart attack struck while Vassar was at home. "I wasn't feeling well. I just had genetic heart disease," Vassar recounted. Fortunately, someone was present to call 911. Paramedics arrived swiftly and performed life-saving measures. "They did a heck of a job getting me back," he noted. Vassar was shocked 11 times and sustained cracked ribs during the resuscitation process.

Remarkably, just three days later, while still hospitalized, Vassar suffered a stroke. "They iced me down, and they said I was going, 'Why was it so cold?' Cause you're on ice," he recalled. During both incidents, Vassar was clinically dead for 30 minutes each time, with no heartbeat.

Since these close calls, Vassar has reflected on the ordeal. "When you go through something as life-changing as a heart attack, you become more introspective and sentimental," he shared. This newfound perspective has influenced his music, as seen in his recent collaboration with Jeffrey Steele on "Hillbillies in Hollywood."

Despite these severe health issues, Vassar's recovery has been nothing short of incredible. He returned to the stage, performing 100 shows in 2023. "Thank goodness for medicine," he expressed, acknowledging the vital role medical intervention played in his survival. He also appreciates life and his passion for music more than ever before: "I love singing. I appreciate it more, I can tell you that."

Vassar's story is a powerful reminder of resilience and the unpredictable nature of life. His experience emphasizes the importance of health awareness, even for those who lead a disciplined lifestyle. Now, as he continues his Hits and Heroes Tour, Vassar carries a renewed energy and a profound appreciation for the gift of life.
