AceShowbiz - Pop sensation and Grammy-winning artist Ariana Grande recently made a revealing appearance on the YouTube series "Hot Ones", where the singer not only faced spicy hot wings but also discussed the trials of adhering to a vegan diet within a family that is not always considerate of her dietary choices.
Host Sean Evans joined Grande in eating vegan wings and opened the conversation by asking if she had found the "perfect Venn diagram" between her plant-based diet and her Sicilian-American family's cooking. Grande humorously responded, "No, it's so funny because my family always forgets," before quickly correcting herself, "I don't think they forget; I think they don't want to remember."
Grande revealed that her grandmother, whom she endearingly refers to as "Nonna," frequently offers her meatballs despite knowing about her vegan lifestyle. "My nonna always offers me meatballs and I'm like 'No, thank you, I'm still plant-based,' " she shared in a tender voice.
Interestingly, Ariana is not alone in her vegan journey within the Grande household. Her brother Frankie's husband, Hale Leon, who became part of the family in 2022, also follows a plant-based diet. Grande expressed relief in having an ally, saying, "I'm not alone, my brother-in-law Hale is vegan, so we have each other."
Evans added humor to the conversation by commenting on the difficulties of "trying to navigate those Sunday night dinners" for both Grande and Leon.
The conversation took an introspective turn when Grande reflected on her early music career. Addressing whether she ever thought of retiring older songs that fans still love, she explained how "time and therapy" helped her re-embrace her past work. Listening to her old songs now fills her with pride and gratitude, a stark contrast to the distress they once caused.
Grande also discussed some aspects of her career she still feels passionate about, including her love for working with producer Max Martin and using looping machines in her music-making process. "I'm such a nerd for musical production," she admitted.
As the interview progressed, Grande tackled increasingly spicy wings, impressing viewers with her resilience. Despite admitting that she didn't love most of the hot sauces, calling one "disgusting," she remained composed. "You came prepared, you handled it," Evans praised after Grande ate the spiciest wing seemingly unfazed.
In addition to her new album "Eternal Sunshine" released in March, Ariana Grande is set to star as Glinda in the film adaptation of the musical "Wicked", slated for a November 2024 release. The episode of "Hot Ones", titled "Ariana Grande Hits a High Note While Eating Spicy Wings," provided fans with a blend of laughter, tears, and deliciously spicy drama.
