AceShowbiz - Kate Winslet, the 48-year-old Oscar-winning actress, has always been an advocate for body positivity. In her latest interview with Harper's Bazaar U.K., she opened up about an incident during the filming of her upcoming biopic, "Lee". According to Winslet, while portraying model-turned-WWII-photographer Lee Miller, a crew member suggested she sit up straighter to hide her "belly rolls" while wearing a bikini.
Unfazed, Winslet stood her ground, declaring, "Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?" She went on to explain that she intentionally stopped working out before filming the scene to achieve a more natural look for her character.
Winslet expressed her pride in showing her unfiltered appearance on screen, stating, "The opposite. I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn't occur to me to cover that up."
The actress also shared her observations on societal attitudes towards women's bodies, noting that she is encouraged by the growing self-acceptance among women. "I do feel a huge sense of relief that women are so much more accepting of themselves and refusing to be judged," she said.
Winslet has a long history of speaking out against body shaming. In the past, she has called out magazines for altering her photos and has refused to allow her body to be edited in on-screen roles.
She attributes her unwavering confidence to the passage of time, saying, "I'm more comfortable in myself as each year passes. It enables me to allow the opinions of others to evaporate."
Winslet's stance on body positivity serves as an inspiration to women everywhere, reminding them that true beauty lies in embracing their natural selves and refusing to conform to unrealistic standards.
