AceShowbiz - "America's Got Talent" season 19 is set to make history with its live shows, featuring a diverse lineup of 44 top acts. The live shows will commence on Tuesday, August 13 at 8 P.M. ET on NBC, following the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The live shows will kick off with four weeks of quarterfinals, where 11 acts will perform for America's vote, with only three advancing to the next round. In a series first, judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and host Terry Crews will each have the opportunity to send an act straight to the finals with the "Live Show Golden Buzzer".
After the quarterfinals, 12 acts will move on to the semifinals and compete for the top six spots based on viewers' votes. These six acts will then join the four "Live Show Golden Buzzers" in the two-night finale, beginning on Tuesday, September 17 and concluding on Tuesday, September 24.
This season's talent pool includes performers from all walks of life, from a high school janitor to a dentist and a prison nurse. Among the acts competing are illusionists, acrobats, singers, comedians, dancers, and more.
In addition to the recently announced acts, nine acts have already advanced to the live shows through Golden Buzzers. These acts include Brent Street, Learnmore Jonasi, LEGION, LiV Warfield, Pranysqa Mishra, Reid Wilson, Richard Goodall, Schumacher and Sky Elements.
As part of a new twist, the judges will be granted an additional Live Show Golden Buzzer during the live rounds. This buzzer will allow them to send acts directly to the finals, bypassing the semifinals.
The introduction of the "Live Show Golden Buzzer" has raised concerns about the judges having excessive power, especially after Sofia Vergara faced criticism for her choice of Schumacher as a Golden Buzzer recipient. However, the addition of this twist promises to add even more excitement and unpredictability to the upcoming live shows.
