AceShowbiz - Just like his movies, Leonardo DiCaprio's latest adventure in the ocean has met an unexpected twist. The Oscar-winning actor had an unfortunate run-in with some sea creature during his vacation with his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti in Sardinia, Italy.

The Hollywood star was enjoying a dip in the Mediterranean Sea with his model girlfriend. In photos that were published on Monday, August 5, the pair were going for a swim besides a yacht. They were seen putting on goggles before taking a dive into the crystal blue water.

However, the fun times didn't last long as Leo soon emerged from the water and called out for help regarding a mark just below his tush. He appeared to suffer a jellyfish sting while swimming, according to photographers on the scene.

The 49-year-old was trying to examine a red mark on the back of his upper right thigh on the deck of the boat. He hopped beneath the yacht's outdoor shower and lifted his swimming trunks to get a closer look at the spot.

Vittoria and some crew members rushed to Leo's side to tend to his injury. One of the crew members was seen spraying it clean and cleaning it with a towel.

While some varieties of jellyfish can be harmful, Leo's injury didn't seem to be serious. He was photographed smiling at his girlfriend while still clutching a gray towel following the incident.

Leo, who was shirtless and wore black swim trunks, had his hair tied up in a bun and accessorized with a silver necklace as he swam in the sea. As for Vittoria, the 26-year-old Italian beauty wore a black bikini and some silver earrings. She left her long dark hair down as the took a dip in the waters at Maddalena's Archipelago.

The pair have been joined by Leo's longtime friend Tobey Maguire, former editor-in-chief of British Vogue Edward Enninful, Leo's frequent collaborator and actor Lukas Haas and model Neelam Gill during the vacation.
