On social media, fans of the 'Game of Thrones' prequel series believe that the show shouldn't have been extended to more than 3 seasons following a 'let down' season 2 finale.

AceShowbiz - HBO recently announced that "House of the Dragon" will expand to season 4, which also marks its final season. Fans, however, were not thrilled by the news following a disappointing season 2 finale which aired on Sunday, August 4.

On social media, fans of the "Game of Thrones" prequel series believed that the show shouldn't have been extended to more than 3 seasons. "Season 2 finale was a massive let down lol," a critic wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Three season story at best. More game of thrones the better but they are milking it," another noted. "Getting 4 seasons out of this because they dragged out season 2 to avoid the war is wild."

A fourth fan opined, "This season sucked. Where was the second major battle we were supposed to see? Waited two years for one good episode and for the rest to be filler and/or setup. But don't worry guys!!! The war is for sure coming next season!!" Similarly, one said. "My homie said even having a 3rd season would be dragging the serious out so a 4th is just beating a dead horse lol."

"Yeah 4 seasons is a stretch for the material. The new name for this show: House of the Dragging," a critic added. Someone stressed, "I speak for everyone when I say just cancel it now," with another suggesting, "Let it end with Season 3."

In season 2 finale, viewers were teased with the emergence of the elusive Daeron Targaryen. Daeron, previously absent from the show's first season, will take his place among Team Green. Riding the she-dragon Tessarion, Daeron's arrival alongside the marching Hightower troops signifies a significant advantage for the Greens.

George R.R. Martin noted, "Daeron is down in Oldtown, we just did not have the time to work him in this season." This addition is crucial as it balances the dragon power between the warring factions.

It additionally featured an unexpected alliance between Tyland Lannister and the Triarchy, a coalition of Free Cities from Lys, Myr and Tyrosh, that set the stage for the pivotal Battle of the Gullet. This clash pitted Corlys Velaryon and the Velaryon fleet against the combined forces of the Triarchy and the Greens. Highlighted in the season finale's montage, this naval engagement is anticipated to be one of Westeros' bloodiest battles.
