AceShowbiz - England celebrated a dramatic victory against the Netherlands in the U.E.F.A. (Union of European Football Associations) European Championship semifinals on July 10. In the 90th minute, Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal, pushing the Three Lions to the finals against Spain on July 14.
Watkins, who plays for Aston Villa in the English Premier League, subbed in for England captain Harry Kane with only nine minutes remaining and netted the decisive goal within the first minute of stoppage time.
Following the victory, Prince William and King Charles shared their congratulations. Prince William, who attended England's quarterfinal victory against Switzerland, tweeted, "What a beauty, Ollie! Congratulations England! #EURO2024 Finalists."
King Charles also celebrated the team's triumph, but with a touch of humor. Referencing their history of penalty shootouts, he wrote, "If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation's collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!"
England will face Spain in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Sunday, July 14. The match coincides with the Men's Singles Final at Wimbledon, presenting a potential scheduling conflict for Prince William, who usually attends the tennis tournament with his wife, Kate.
