AceShowbiz - On July 4, Madonna celebrated the one-year anniversary of her near-death experience with a series of glamorous photos. A year ago, she was hospitalized for a bacterial infection that led to a 48-hour coma in the ICU.
"Happy 4th of July!" Madonna captioned the photos from her NYC celebration. "A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness. I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler."
The health scare forced Madonna to postpone her "Celebration" tour, which resumed in the fall and ended in May with a free concert in Rio de Janeiro that drew over 1.6 million fans.
"I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year," Madonna wrote. "Thank you, God. Life is beautiful!"
The tour grossed $225.4 million and sold 1.1 million tickets. It is Madonna's sixth tour to gross over $100 million, making her the only woman in an elite group that includes The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and U2.
Madonna previously revealed that she suffered an acute septic shock and was revived with Narcan. At a Brooklyn concert, she said her lungs and kidneys were failing and her survival chances were low.
Despite the near-death experience, Madonna now embraces her newfound health and shared playful photos with a younger man, showing off her ageless visage and busty red dress. She reflected on her journey, expressing gratitude for the support of her fans and the beauty of life.
