AceShowbiz - While Angelina Jolie and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt put on triumphant smiles after winning their first Tony Award, they had a not so pleasant experience at the event. Word on the street is the mother-daughter duo were among A-list celebrities who were forced to wait in line for "a really long time" during the 2024 Tony Awards.

Detailing the "mess" to Page Six, several sources described the situation as "chaos" with many calling it "the worst red carpet of their careers." According to the sources, many had to wait in a long line in the heat to be interviewed as attendees had been waiting when the organizers mysteriously shut down the carpet early without giving a reason.

Sarah Paulson, who won a Tony Award for "Appropriate", was almost body checked by security in the process. "It was a mosh pit," said one source. "The security guy got right in front of everyone and stretched out his arms to prevent anyone from moving and nearly body checked Sarah Paulson to yell, 'Carpet's closed!' It was unnecessarily aggressive. No one was trying to be rude or out of line."

Angelina and Vivienne had to wait a half hour in the heat in her gown, while others waited an hour. The Oscar-winning actress was reportedly only able to get on sooner because brothers Corey Cott and Casey Cott let her go in front of them.

"Someone was heard saying it felt like they were on the Titanic," one other source claimed. "Publicists were begging people to let women and children go first." Some stars, many of whom needed to get inside to prepare for performances, were forced to skip the red carpet. "It was a a full blown disaster," another disgruntled source said.

The issue didn't stop there. Once inside, press was allegedly given a "nominees pack" which misidentified a best actress in a musical nominee, "Lempikca" star Eden Espinosa, with an image of Shoshana Bean from 2002's "Hairspray".

Ahead of the ceremony, it was reported that several established members of the Broadway press were not invited to cover the red carpet. Most theater press eventually got invited to cover, but they were reportedly treated by the publicists in a manner that many felt was "condescending" and "dismissive." One publicist allegedly got into a "heated exchange" with a reporter.

The organizers of the Tony Awards have not addressed the reported chaotic red carpet situation.
