The actor has vanished from the spotlight after he was accused of fantasizing about cannibalism and rape when his alleged direct messages leaked in January 2021.

AceShowbiz - Armie Hammer managed to keep a positive attitude after being accused of cannibalism. Although the "outlandish" allegations have ruined his acting career, the "Call Me By Your Name" star said he's "grateful" for them.

The 37-year-old reflected on his downfall when appearing on the "Painful Lessons" podcast. "There were things that people were saying about me that just felt so outlandish," he told Tyler Ramsey.

"Yeah that I was a cannibal," he added. "Now I'm sort of able to look at it with a sense of distance and perspective and be like, 'That's hilarious.' People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them."

"They were like, 'Yep, that guy ate people,' " Armie continued. "Like what? What are you talking about? Do you know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! How am I going to be a cannibal?! Like, it was bizarre."

"The Social Network" actor went on to say, "But here's what I will say about it." He explained, "Even in the discrepancies, in whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I'm now in a place in my life where I'm grateful for every single bit of it."

"I'm actually now at a place where I'm really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me I didn't feel good," the ex-husband of Elizabeth Chambers further elaborated. "I never felt satisfied I never had enough I never was in a place where I was happy with myself where I had self-esteem."

Armie vanished from the spotlight after he was accused of fantasizing about cannibalism and rape when his alleged direct messages leaked in January 2021. He was also accused of sexual coercion and emotional abuse and in March 2021 another allegation emerged against him of "violently" raping a woman named Effie in 2017. Armie denied the allegation and in May, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office concluded there wasn't enough evidence to charge him with a crime.
