The 63-year-old comedian shares in an Instagram post that she is recovering from vocal cord surgery, aiming to regain her voice after lung cancer-related damage.

AceShowbiz - Kathy Griffin, the renowned 63-year-old comedian, underwent vocal cord surgery recently. In a recent Instagram post, she expressed that the surgery went well and that she is optimistic about the possibility of regaining some of her voice. Despite experiencing swelling, she believes it will be worth the effort.

In a video shared prior to the surgery, Griffin revealed that she was having an implant placed in her left vocal cord, which was permanently paralyzed during her lung cancer surgery. Additionally, she mentioned an aperture (a tear) above her vocal cords, which caused her voice to pitch higher during stand-up performances.

Griffin expressed some nervousness about the procedure due to its potential impact on her voice, but acknowledged her experience with previous surgeries. She also shared that she will be unable to speak for two weeks as part of her recovery, which she anticipates will be challenging.

To occupy her time, Griffin plans to engage in TikTok viewing and refrain from creating content during her recovery period. Her "My Life on the PTSD-List" tour is scheduled to resume on August 23rd, allowing her ample time to rest and heal.

Griffin's vocal cord surgery is a continuation of her post-lung cancer recovery. In August 2021, she underwent surgery to remove half of her left lung following her lung cancer diagnosis. The recovery proved more challenging than anticipated, but she was later declared cancer-free in November of that year.

The recent surgery signifies Griffin's ongoing efforts to restore her voice and address the vocal cord issues resulting from her cancer treatment.
