On June 7, she and her boyfriend Mike Goodnough made their red carpet debut at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. They walked hand-in-hand, radiating joy and affection for one another.

At the star-studded event, Goodnough, who is known as Hoarse Whisperer on social media, openly gushed about his love for Bertinelli. "Valerie poured her heart and soul into that show," he said of "Valerie's Home Cooking", which is nominated for two Daytime Emmys despite its cancellation in 2023. "The nominations are a deserved recognition for Bertinelli's work." In a video posted on Instagram, he added, "I'm ecstatic to see my girlfriend get the roses."

Bertinelli herself couldn't hold back her excitement over her boyfriend and their budding relationship. Speaking to ET's Deidre Behar, she joked about Goodnough being a red carpet "virgin" and showered him with praise, calling him "brilliant, smart, funny, talented, and patient." She even cheekily added, "He's a hot piece of..." leaving Goodnough blushing.

The couple's chemistry is palpable, and they have been enjoying their time together, despite their long-distance relationship. Bertinelli mentioned that finding someone she connects with at this age is special, adding, "Sliding into DMs is a good thing." Goodnough echoed similar sentiments, stating that the distance "makes the time you have together more valuable."

Their romance became public in April when Bertinelli made it Instagram official. Shortly afterward, Goodnough confirmed their relationship on his Substack, Hoarse Whisperings. Reflecting on their relationship, he wrote, "I am Valerie Bertinelli's boyfriend...and that may well be among the most surreal sentences I've ever pecked out."
