The 'Wicked' actress, who has attended the Met Gala five times previously, reveals her nerves and excitement for this year's event, teasing her costume and sharing her preparation routine.

AceShowbiz - Cynthia Erivo, a Tony-winning actress, has attended the Met Gala five times since her debut in 2017. This year's event, themed "The Garden of Time", will mark her sixth appearance. Erivo expressed her anxiety before her first Met Gala but has since become more confident.

For her 2023 look, Erivo hinted at a garden-inspired ensemble, saying, "It's almost like I have run through a garden and things have fallen on me." Her signature long nails, adorned with earthy colors, flowers and foliage, offer a glimpse of her theme.

Inspired by the Costume Institute's corresponding exhibit, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion", Erivo's costume may also incorporate elements of her role in the Broadway musical "Wicked". She teased, "There's always going to be an aspect of 'Wicked' in everything I do, but sometimes you may have to search for it."

Erivo has already had two fittings for her outfit and plans to begin her preparation around noon on Monday after a five-mile run. She will indulge in spa treatments and anticipates feeling like a princess.

Asked about the surprise performer at this year's gala, Erivo smiled and remained secretive. She was joined at UTA's pre-Met Gala party by Gabrielle Union, CNN's Abby Phillip, Awkwafina, Dwyane Wade and Jamie Dornan.

The Met Gala red carpet arrivals will begin on Monday, May 6 at approximately 5 P.M. ET. Variety will provide extensive coverage of the event, including interviews and fashion previews.
